Web Designers
These days it seems like everyone can design a web page or web site. All it takes is some fairly decent software and you are off and running. There is no arguing that you can plug this in there and tell this to do that and come up with an acceptable output. That’s even true with music. You can make a “technically” good song without knowing a thing about music. But to make a great song, just like making a great web presence, it takes more than just the book learning. You need to actually have a feeling and a passion to do it if you want it to be great.
So what is the best way to get a great web designer to come and put his or her talent into your particular project, whatever that project may be. There are numerous places where you can find people that have the knowledge and the drive to do a great job on your project. One of the coolest places I have seen on the World Wide Web to locate people that want to work for you are the freelancing and networking sites like myMusicCircle.
When you go to myMusicCircle you can post a project and the people that have the expertise to do that project will actually come to you and bid for what they will charge to do your project. You can get samples from them and in time at all you should be able to match the right talent to your needs.
One thing to keep in mid when you are looking at having people do work for you this way. Be honest and up front with them and be realistic about what you are after and what you are willing to pay. These people are trained professionals and you should be willing to pay them for their work. Yes you should expect to try and get a decent price but let’s not rip anyone off either.
If they send you a mockup of whatever it is you are working on, give them feedback. Remember that they are shooting an idea from a blank canvas and since they are not you, it is important that you guide them as much as you can so you get the final result that you are after.
Also keep in mind that not everyone in the world is going to like what you put out there. If you find you just can’t work with someone, cut them loose and move on until you find the right one.
